Choosing Spark Plugs and Wires Sign In

So I was finishing up a radiator flush and fill on my '95 Cherokee Sport (4.0L, Inline 6) when I noticed sparks jumping from the head to a spark plug wire. A little electrical tape stopped the arc for now but I guess I let these go too long. Spark plug wire sets seem to range in price from $20 to over $100. What should I be looking for in a set of wires? Also does anyone have a particular preference in spark plugs or will any properly sized plug do?

Use oem which should be 8mm silicone resistor. You can buy just one if they look good except that one. These can last forever if not traumatized or rubbing on something,

Thanks. I think its just the one and your recommendation makes a lot of sense. I was reading on some websites that you should change the wires every time you change the plugs and to do that every 30,000 miles. That seems excessive to me. I don't think I've had the plugs or wires changed in 60,000 miles (and several years!).

Every 30K -- Bull!! If they are good they are good and if they are bad they are bad. I'm driving 19 year old ones in my daily driver with no problems -- never traumatized,

Re: Choosing Spark Plugs and Wires Sign In

I doublechecked my maintenance records/owner's manual and it suggests replacement of plug wires every 120,000 miles. Since I've got 150,000 looks like that is not a bad recommendation for the 95 Cherokee. My wires were very dirty so I probably could have extended their life by wiping them down every once in a while. I just replaced them with MOPAR OEM wires and the original size Champion plugs.
