1993 Chevy Astro, 3.6 V-6 , starts and runs rough idle, when driving the speed gauge needle seems to move with rpms of motor, the radio cuts on and off , and when braking while the speed needle is messing up the engine dies too. Also time to time it will backfire

First, recheck the engine size. You've got a strange combination of symptoms. 1) The rough idle, starting & dying, backfiring, could be regular, old, tune up problem. Check dist. cap for corrosion and carbon tracking (on inside of cap). Could also be an injector problem. Check plug wires for resistance and arcing to ground. Check spark plugs. 2) The eratic speedometer may be a VSS problem, or a voltage issue. 3) When braking, those symptoms could be, again, a voltage issue. Check the charging system and battery connections. Have you attempted to pull any codes? Loren SW Washington
