Car wont start. Sigma 2.6L Sign In

Hello, recently i had a sigma GL handed down to me and it was fine. then it started to have a few probs starting due to the battery. always had to take the battery clamp of the terminal and clean it as it always built up with battery acid then it would work. so i decided to buy a new battery and batter clamps (by that i mean the things that sit over the battery to get power. not sure of name) and i think i put the + on the - and smoke came out of the bottom of the engine. i quickly realised my error and changed it back over. now the car wont even click over and i have no interior lights which i had before. your help would be much appreciated.

You’ve burnt out a main fuse, bus bar or a fusible link.
There should be a power distribution box under the hood close to the battery. This box holds a number of different electrical protection devices.
A fusible link is a short section of wire that is usually two wire sizes smaller in diameter then the wire it is protecting.
A bus bar is a small metal bar that is used as a connection point for adding different circuits to the system.
I would also have a look at where you saw the smoke; checking for other burnt wires or wire insulation.
Here’s a wiring diagram showing the main fuses.
