The battery in my 2003 Malibu died and now when I try to lock the car with the remote it does not honk to let me know it is locked. The car locks but there is no honk to let me know that it is. I am not incredibly knowledgeable about cars so if I could get a very detailed answer, that would be appreciated. Malibu 2003 V6 Engine 50K miles

Get your owners manual out and have a read through; there’s likely a way of programming that option back into the system? For some unknown reason driver’s option setting (We call them creature features) will get dropped during a battery disconnect? The programming procedures very from model to models and year to year; the last Impala I did these functions/options were assessable through the radio controls. That’s as detailed as I can get without doing a bunch of research on that particular model; but this information will be in the owner’s manual. If you don’t have one, any dealer can (if they have a mind to) print off that portion of the manual; if you provide them with the vehicle’s VIN #. Dan. Canadian "EH"
