Car Heater doesn't work..

Car Heater doesn't work..
|

I changed the thermostat and nothing.
Cleaned out the hoses and still nothing.
Don't know much, but the hose that is connects the radiator to the engine gets hot, but the hose connected to the thermostat never get hot.
Any idea?

With the engine at full operating temp, locate the 2 heater hoses where they go into the firewall and feel them to see if they are both hot to the touch. If not too hot to hold, then you have to look at the actual engine temp and if that is up, if it is, then your looking at a restricted heater core or poor circulation for another reason.
How about a model and engine size on that car too.

Thanks for the reply.
I think it's a 16 valves L-4 engine.
2005 mitsubishi eclipse spyder.
But like I said, one of the hose got really hot and the other one didn't at all.
Don't think it's poor circulation. I feed(?) water into one of the hose and it went out the other hose.
Also the hose was EXTREMELY rusty (the coolant was coffee-ish brown).
Restricted heater core?

This car has a heater control valve under the dash on the passenger side that shuts off the coolant circulation. You need to check that out.

Your heater core isn't getting flow through it so either it is shut off or blocked.

Flush that coolant out good for known good new and specifically flush the heater core and radiator observing full flow. Yes, that would clog a heater core and may not flush out till you try. Whatever is causing that it has to go,

In your original post, you talked about the upper and lower radiator hoses (i think). Hammer Time is talking about different hoses. Re-read his post. These hoses run through the firewall.

Yeah I miss read that. Sorry, Hammer Time.
Gonna check the hose when I be able to.
also, when I took the thermostat out and put water in the radiator (to check if the water pump is working) the hose that wasn't getting hot got hot.
So, I guess I'm going to check if the thermostat is working (It's brand new), then check heater core and the hose connected to the firewall.
I have a new problem, by the way.
I was trying to tighten the bolts on the thermostat cover and one of the bolts broke off. Half the tread is still in engine. What is the best way to get it out?
And is the best way to check if I have a faulty thermostat is by putting it inside boiling water and check if the thermostat valve pops up(open) or not?

The best advice i can give you is to step away from this car and have it towed to a competent shop. All you are doing is creating more new problems without resolving any of the old ones.

I'm not here to encourage you to do even more damage. I'm here to give you good advice and in this case it would be to let the professionals do it.

Get the bolt out without destroying the housing as you will be doing if you try it.
