Car Alarm Sign In

My daughter has a 2003 Saturn ION3 w/ 55,000 miles. We just noticed last night that if you lock the car using the key fob, the alarm (horn beep) will start to go off about 5-10 minutes later. Has anybody encountered the same or similar problem? Thanks in advance for your attention.

If original equipment the owner's manual should state proper operation and how to disable it completely,

Re: Car Alarm Sign In

I'll take a look Tom, but the problem seems to be a little more than I originally thought. I notice now that sometimes her dome and map lights come on and stay on. The only way I can shut them is to start or turn the key to on and then off, and the lights will go out like they are supposed to. Problem is that so far tonight they have been coming back on. I can turn the dome light off at the light with the 3-way light switch, but the map lights will not shut off manually, only if I turn the car on and off. I'm not sure how long or often this has been happening so i put the car in the garage tonight so I can see the light better. So far tonight I have had to shut them about 4 times in the last few hours. I hate stuff like this!

Re: Car Alarm Sign In

It sounds like you may have a door switch that's not closing in one of the doors. That would prevent the alarm from setting and the dome light from going off if it thinks one of the doors is still open.

Re: Car Alarm Sign In

Just to follow up: Last night I sat in the car and observed the lights go out as they should, then about 5-10 seconds later thewy come back on. This cycle continued for about 10 minutes at which time I left the vehicle. I can only assume this is happening constantly through the day and night.
