I have a 1976 Ford F-250 Highboy, has a 390 big block bored to a 404. who had it before i bought it did their own wiring on the truck. Now to the problem. When running the battery will not charge. has new voltage regulator, alternator, and battery. starter is good, i traced all wires and checked them and they are all good, as well as all the fusible links. changed ignition switch also, and still have no idea what is keeping it from charging. has a motorcraft alt. external regulator, powermaster starter. if that helps. If anyone can think of anything else to try. i would really appreciate it. Thanks, I had a lot of views but no reply's, please. this is a daily driver and im in school now.

Guess: The four wire connection plug to voltage regulator was once a routine problem spot. Check the condition of that. Again - a guess as I'm mostly an old phart Ford guy. Used to keep those plugs in stock and may still have one and nothing to put it on anymore.

If you find it to be the issue Napa is pretty good around me for getting stuff for older vehicles.

Other: Try even with a battery charger that's automatic also called "floating" to keep the battery charged. Regular automotive type batteries will self destruct kinds fast if they go dead all the time - not meant for Deep loss/cyling.

More: Dead batteries can freeze and that alone ruins them! Don't allow it if cold where you are,

I though about that connecter so i personally took it off and wired them one-on-one with the regulator.
