Battery Drain Overnight on 1998 Toyota Corolla Sign In

I have a 1998 Toyoto Corolla four door sedan. About two months ago, starting having a problem during the first start of the day, as the car will barely start but will be okay for the remainder of the day. It appears that something is draining the battery overnight. I have checked the dome lite and the truck lite and both are off when the car is parked. If the car is not driven for approximately 36 hours or more, it will have to be jump started with battery cables from another car. The local Toyoto dealer has checked the battery (a new one was installed in May 2009) and the alternator on 27 June 2009 and both checked out okay. I should note that if I drive the care at least twice a day, it will start without any difficullty the next day. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Sam

There is a procedure for finding a battery draw like that.

You will need a digital ammeter and a jumper wire with clips on the ends to do this.
First rig any door switches so you can have a door open without triggering the interior lights and unplug the hood light. Remove one battery cable and attach the meter in series between the battery cable and battery post. Take the jumper wire and also attach it the same way. Leave the jumper wire on for at least 10 minutes to expire all the automatic timers. Now remove the jumper wire and read the meter. Anything over 50ma is too much draw. The way you locate this is to start removing fuses one at a time until the meter drops to normal level. This will be the circuit with something staying on. Determine what components are part of that circuit and check them individually until the problem is isolated.

Your welcome,

If your dealing with a Toyota dealer, I'm sure they are well aware of how to look for a parasitic draw.
