Bad alternator cause transmission issues?

Hello. I took my 2005 Toyota Highlander in a few days ago due to a bad alternator and dead battery. After replacement of the alternator and battery, the dealership told me that during a test drive they determined the transmission went bad. I have had no previous transmission issues. They tried replacing the transmission with a used one which was defective. Now they want to try a second used transmission. I suspect they at the shop did something wrong and are not admitting it. Could the bad alternator have caused the transmission to fail? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. The dealer says they really don't know what caused the problem The mechanic says it might have something to do with the solenoid, but they are the supposed experts and can't tell me for sure. I feel I'm being held hostage. Any advice you can offer? Thanks

The only advice I can offer is unless they are picking up the tab, get it out of there and get it to a trans specialist. Let them tell you if it was caused by the dealer and then you can go after them for the cost of repair. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
