BMW320d - lights coming on on dash

hi all i have a 03 bmw320d, this has happened a few time and dont understand why, the cruise control light and a few other lights that tell me by brake lights etc which indicates that bulbs are gone (come on together) and they all go off after a few minutes anyone any ideas
also my sheering wheel squeaks a bit now and again more occurances now when perhaps turning any ideas
could do with a little advise on this thanks
