BAD 2002 Maxima wiring harness Sign In

My son's Maxima would not start. We installed a new battery a week earlier. Had to tow to dealer. He found 8 codes from ECM including CAN communication, NATS failure and fuel level circuit. They found insuffient grounding to the circuit. Looking further they found extensive harness corrosion causing the insufficient ground concern. They said he would need both body harnesses and the main engine control harness totaling $6,534.10.
This is the first time i ever had a problem like this. I'm a Chevy guy and can do most of my own work but this is pretty bad.
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions or comments. Thanks

Comment: What the heck might have happened to this car that makes virtually ever bit of wire in it needing to be replaced? Is this possibly a flood car?

I'd get another assesment of how to approach this. That's a ton of money! If things are that bad perhaps talk to an auto electric place or even a salvage yard about getting sections that may need replacement - I can't believe it's all bad!!

Thanks for the response Tom.
We will look for another shop around town for that second opinion. We have some time so we will not rush into anything.
