Air bag light on, 2003 ford ranger edge Sign In

I have a 2003 Ford Ranged Edge, When I bought the truck, it had the air bags deployed so I installed a pair of new used air bags among with a used restrained control module. The air bags light did not turned off. I tried to reset the light by an instructions I found on the internet, you put the key and wait until the light turns off then cut the ignition off several times but no success. Can somebody help me with information on how to reset the light. Apparently the light gives me code 17.

Code 17 is indicating a problem with the seat belt pretensioners which are part of the air bag monitoring circuit.

Your looking for a simple answer to a complicated question. The circuit has to be tested and most of the time your looking at a complete seat belt assembly that can run in the hundreds of dollars.
