AM Reception Cuts Out and In

1997 Geo Metro. The AM reception cuts out and in as the car travels over bumps. Hitting the dashboard fixes the problem for a while, but not always. This doesn't happen with the FM stations.
Is this probably a loose connection at the rear of the radio? Or inside the radio? Or something else completely?

You may want to check the back of the radio where the antenna plugs in. It may be backing out. Also, check the antenna on the vehicle to see if it is loosening up.
