98 Olds Silhouette Wipers sit in wrong position when turned off.

My 98 Oldsmobile Silhouette has been sitting in the driveway for a couple of weeks (didn't start it or touch it or anything) until recently. I drove it the other day, and when i used the wipers (they were turned off when i started the car) they worked fine, except now when i turn the wipers off, they don't lay down under the hood in the "off" position like they used to. Now when the wipers are turned off, they rest fully extended when the switch is turned off! Other than this, there are not problems with the wipers, they just rest fully extended (in the open position) on the windshield. the actual cycle is still normal. if i have the wipers on, they still rest at the bottom of the windshield like normal (as long as i keep the wipers turned on), but when i turn the switch to the "off" position, they pop back up fully extended and stop there. thanks.

You most likely have a bad wiper module. That is a removable circuit board attached to the wiper motor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
