98 Ford Contour Service Engine Soon

In order for my car to pass inspection, I need my service engine soon light to light up with the rest of my lights when the key is in the ignition and turned slightly.
I have a 98 Ford Contour SE 6 cyl.
Is it expensive? I'm curious as to it's just a light problem or a computer problem. thanks!!!

Not sure but bet it's the bulb. Did someone take it out? I'd also bet they are a bear to get at to even test the bulb!
