Help! My 1997 Chevy Silverado(5.7 engine, 2 wheel drive automatic transmission, 202,000 miles) gets stuck in park and it isn't because I'm parking on an incline. It doesn't matter where I park, sometimes it sticks and sometimes it doesn't. Someone suggested it may be a brake relay or switch so I checked my brake lights and they aren't working. My hazard lights and turn signals do work. Any suggestions? I'm hoping I can fix it myself this weekend if someone can identify the problem & I can find the correct parts. Thank you

The shift interlock works off the brake light switch. If your problem is intermittent, then it's likely a bad brake light switch down at the pedal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thank you for the quick reply. How difficult is it to replace this switch?
