A couple years a go, my Interior Lights started flashing like mores code.
I had someone check it out. He took the door panels off and did some checking (he had a print out of how to check) with the electrics. He said it was the Body Control Module (BCM) "for sure".

I got a BCM, which did not fix the problem.

I took the dimmer switch out and took it to a electronics repair guy. He hooked it up to a tester. The voltage stayed the same. He slid the slider over and it was smooth. He told me there was noting wrong with it.

I took it to A professor (auto) at the Collage I was attending. It did it all the time except when I drove it there. He kept it all day, when I came to pick it up, he said it never did it all day. No matter what they did, they couldn't get it to do it.

I took it home and never had a problem again.

Fast foreword. I was driving the car A few nights a go and it started flickering again. As I type this, I can look out the window to the parking lot, I see the whole interior is flashing.

How can I find out what the problem is?

Thank you,
Chris.

I don't know about the other guys you went to, But I have seen this before. What I have seen in the past is: The wires for the light are earthing out on the metal in the roof of your car. What happens is your power wire is on a switch, (most of the time, unless no switch and is linked to opening of the doors, more complicated) If the wire comes loose over time, it can earth to anything metal. Everytime it does contact metal it creates a closed circuit, and it comes on. Few ways to deal with this.

1. Remove BULB from the light as a quick fix. Keep it in your car though if you need it.
2. Pull the fuse on it, same deal
-or-
3. Go hunting, remove the interior light completely from the roof, and examine the wires. Run a continuity test on them to make sure they have not broken along the line. If that comes back continuous, put your wires back in the switching mechanism tight and try it while its off the roof. If good, re-install. If bad, try replacing the interior light.

Does it matter if all the lights are flashing? I have the two on the roof, Plus I have one on each side where you feet go.

Just to add to Doc's

I'm looking at a diagnostic chart ,only one I have is for lights staying on too long..
Since you already eliminated the BCM and the dimmer as the possible faults....
It mentions entering the BCM diagnostic mode...if you have that.....then..
It mentions the remote function actuator, disconnect it,if lights go off, replace it.
Also mentions to....
Try disconnecting the switches at the door handles, one at a time and see if lights go out,if so,replace faulty switch.
Mentions like Doc stated,to check wiring for short to ground.
Mentions to check wiring for short to voltage.
You will need to access this kinda chart/wiring diagram for wire colors..etc...
Its too much for me to print here...
Hope this helps...
Let us know...
