96 ford explorer ignition cylinder sorted out now having problems with the anti-theft	Sign In

got the ignition cylinder replaced and the key works to turn it but now it won't start. I think the anti-theft has disabled the ignition so now I need to know how to reset the alarm/anti-theft since the computer thinks the vehicle has been stolen. Girlfriend has a funeral to get to tomorrow so this is kind of important and the mechanic at the dealership we are buying the car from has no idea what to do. any assistance would be appreciated. again that is a 96 ford explorer with the 4.0 V6.

Ifs it an aftermarket alarm system...there is probably a little black push button installed under the dash on the drivers side...look for this..if you find it....turn the key to the on position and push the button,the alarm should shut off......I assume you do not have any remotes for the vehicle...

If you got a new ignition switch WITH a new key, it needs programmed to the vehicle's PCM.

Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
