96 ford explorer ignition cylinder

96 ford explorer ignition cylinder Sign In

when replacing the ignition cylinder, specifically when I pulled the old one, the car alarm started going off (I didn't disconnect the battery). now the new ignition cylinder wont turn and the red theft light is in . I have no clue what the problem is please help.

thanks for the assistance. however the problem is now that I need to reset the alarm since I pulled the old ignition cylinder before I disconnected the battery and now the computer thinks that the vehicle has been stolen and the alarm won't shut off.
