96 Dodge Ram Van Battery wont stay charged

Very new to this site so please be patient.. I have a 96 dodge ram van 5.9 The alternator isnt charging the battery. I have a new battery and had the alternator checked today and it passed fine. Just started doing this over the last week . GEN light came on at first will start when jumped and only run as far as the battery has life in it. Once the battery gets really low, more lights come on the further it drains. Any help or a point in a right direction would be great. I have the alternator out now, and am going to start checking grounds and wires, after reading posts on here it seems as if thats first to do. Thanks Tim M.

Yes, check all your fuses including the large ones. See if you have power at the main terminal of the alternator with the key off. If power is present and the fuses are good. you may have a bad PCM which incorporates the voltage regulator.
