You will have to test everything in the circuit but it sounds like one of the relays is having an issue.

Could be a problem with the CCRM or the PCM. Which engine? Check engine light on?

You need to get hold of an EEC IV code reader and find out which trouble code(s) the PCM is storing. That may give you some direction.

Why would you do something like that?

Simply throwing parts at it is going to get real expensive, real fast. The cost of that CCRM would have covered the diagnostic fee for a professional to diagnose it.

He probably replaced it because I suggested it could be a problem. I appologize for not being clearer. Of course, testing would have proven otherwise. I have run into a couple where the fuel pump wouldn't shut off KOEO and it ended up being the PCM after doing some tests. CCRMs are notorious for screwing up on those also causing all kinds of weird problems.

The key is to test, using a volt meter, the fuel pump ground circuit. The PCM grounds the fuel pump ground circuit which closes the fuel pump relay inside the CCRM. With KOEO (key on engine off) after prime (pump off) the voltage at the VIP connector FP terminal should be around battery voltage. When the PCM grounds the relay, the voltage should drop to near zero volts.

If the pump is running all the time and you see 0 volts at the VIP, you know the PCM is grounding the relay. If the VIP shows 12 volts and the pump is running, the CCRM fuel pump relay is hung.

With the weird fan operation and fuel pump relay, suspecting the PCM would be my guess. That of course is after testing PCM power, ground (less than .03 volts with everything turned on), and shorts in the sensor power supply circuits. If all that checks good, PCM is the culprit

The VIP connector under the hood (diagnostic connector)

FP ground circuit is pin A.

You can't do that with a PCM. It has to be programmed before the car is started.

Something so simple can cause so many problems. Thanks for the follow up. Glad to see you have it back to normal.

Closed as solved.
