95 Audi Electrical problem

95 Audi Electrical problem

Hello I just got my first Audi a 95 A6 2.8 Quattro Wagon I got a decent deal on it and I love it but it need some help none of the windows will go up or down also the sun roof won't open the A/C - Heat control don't work and the wipers are not working also the turn signal are not working
that all I seen so far all fuses are good but it seem to me all the things used a relay I wouldn't think all the relay are bad but I don't know how to check them and if it is the relay box it self can that be replace any ideas ? Thanks

Do you have a volt meter and know how to use it? Your going to need access to wiring schematics for those systems, so you can troubleshoot them.

Thank you I getting a meter and found wiring schematics online not sure yet how useful they will be or what all there but I don't know what I looking for

You really need the wiring schematics for those systems to understand how the systems are operating and what needs what to operate. It's important to understand how the circuits operate for the systems to be able to troubleshoot them based from the interpretations you get from the wiring schematics. It's possible that all those system share a common fault.
Another thing I am going to clue you onto is that VW and AUDI track schematics are very difficult to understand because they use numbers and letters to denote components. I even have a hard time with them.
It's also important that you understand the fundamentals of electricity and can operate a DVOM. If you have never touched a meter or diagnosed automotive electrical systems, your going to have a really hard time.

Yes I can do basic votes and ohms reading, reading the schematics is a bit harder but I had a Mercedes before with alot of mess up wiring but what am I checking for a bad relay or what the most likely reason for all this not to work ?

Like he said, this needs to be tested in sequence. We don't throw out random guesses, we test and verify. Why you would want an older Euro car with a host of electrical issues right off the bat is beyond me, but to each his own I guess. You said the fuses were good, did you check for voltage at each side of them of just pulled them out and held them to the light? If so, we don't know if power is even present at the fuse. A 12v test light is what I go into a fuse box with, and you should get one yourself. Cheap to get one and saves loads of time. I assure you, with this car you will certainly get your money's worth out of it and then some. You need to start with the basics, one system at a time. Your windows all don't work. Is there power going in and out of the fuse? If so, move on to the switch. Power at the switch? If no you have figured out where to start hunting wires. Its a process of elimination, and I second DS on the difficulty of Euro wiring diagrams. They engineer the entire car so differently from US and Jap brands that its like night and day. If a professional tech has issues deciphering it, I assure you that you will be quite lost in it.
