i have a 94 suburban 1500, gas 350 engine, with over 100,000 miles. when i turn the ignition off everything stays on as if the ignition is still on. I replaced the ignition switch on the lower part of the steering column and it still did the same thing so i then replaced the ignition that the key goes into and it worked for a couple of times then it went back to doing the same thing again. I have to unhook the battery and then turn the ignition as if i am starting the car and then it shuts off but i have to keep the battery unhooked in order to keep the ignition off

It's probably the linkage between the ignition lock and the ignition switch. The column is going to have to come apart to determine the problem.
