First thing I would check are the fuses. All of them. You should check them useing a test light, as it is a lot easier than pulling each fuse and trying to see the element inside. Do this with the parking lights on and the key in the run position so that the fuses will have voltage passing through. Good luck

Any auto parts store should have them in stock. It is a light in a housing with a probe on one end, roughly 4-6 feet of wire with a spring loaded clamp on the other end. Simply connect the clamp to a good ground, (any unpainted steel) and touch both contacts on the fuse with the probe. Any fuse that lights on only one contact is bad. Two contacts lit is good. If no contacts light then you have an open circuit and will require some in depth hunting. Even if you find bad fuses, this is no guarantee that your problem will be cleared up.

Unless your very good at electronics, I think your looking at replacing the dash. I had a similar problem with mine and found a place on e-bay that sells exchange for about 250 $ usd., but its starting to go again. I have an 89 Jimmy. Also a place in Alberta repairs them for about 150 $ CND. If needed I can post a link. On the bright side, theyre very easy to replace.
