93 SCORT BRAKE LIGHTS ON	Sign In

93 escort wagon 1.9L 145K miles. Brake lights wont shut off until I disconnect the battery(all three lights are on). I replaced the brake pedal switch and checked the wires going into the taillight lens housing no broken wires. Is there a saftey feature or a relay? I appreciate any help you can give me, thanks Bryan

Good find Dave! I think the adjustment of the switch is probably the problem. Do the lights go out when it's unplugged there? Strong clue!

Still working on it. The lights do not go out when i unplug the stoplight switch, which is why its so frustrating. I found that if I remove the "ROOM" fuse the dome light and the brake lights go out and wont come back on so I'm looking at the wires to the dome light and around the fuse block to see if the wires got shorted out. Thanks for all your help, any more ideas will be great. Bryan

There's got to be wires crossed somewhere. At a location near where they might be together like does this have a hatch that makes dome light come on and wiring there that might be the mix up/shorted area?

dome light doesnt come on but it has its own manual light that you can flip on. Im trying to look up a wiring diagram so I know what im looking at and where as well as where not to look for the brake wires. Again thank you sooo much for your help-Bryan
