I recently replaced the mother board for my digital dash and everything worked fine for several months. Recently the ignition cylinder seemed to be sticking or catching on something, but all of the digital displays would come on as normal (before starting the engine). The other day, i turned the car over and heard and felt a snap and grinding noise. The car started but the digital display did not come on(and the a/c blower motor stopped blowing). So appearently when the key is on and power is applied to the dash it also provides power to the blower motor switch??? It was until i wiggled the key and ingition lock around several times to get the display to return. This has been going on for several days, so i decided to take the column apart. I found that the plastic cover that attaches where the adjustable column lever release is located, that the metal wire/spring that attaches to the teethed cam had broken the plastic cover (that covers the HI/low beam shaft) Now the display will not come on at all. I did not see any other damage inside the column. I only tore the column down to the ignition cylinder removal. Is there any other hidden switchs further down inside the column?? Please help!!

The actual ignition switch is about half way down the steering column on the topside of the tube and is actuated by a rod. The way it sounds is that the piece(s) that you’ve found broken are likely the actuator(s) for this rod. It was common on the tilt columns for this one piece to break and it usually meant tearing the whole column down to replace this piece. The dealer will likely have the piece in stock.
Not a real difficult job but there is a specialty tool required to remove the pivot pins for the tilt portion of the column. These pivot pins are made out of white metal or aluminum and have a threaded hole in their center (to attach the pulling tool); without this tool they are almost impossible to get out even though they are only pressed in with a very small amount of interference fit.
Here’s a pic of what the puller looks like.

And here’s a link to the Snap-on site for more details.

Dan, thank you for the reply. I think that will really help me. One more question. When i turn the ignition switch to the first detent that gives you battery power. The radio, the service engine soon light, and the brake light comes on. Before the digital dash would light up and the A/C- heater blower motor would come on (if turned on). But with this new problem that i am having, only the radio power will come on. As stated earlier, i just recently would have to jiggle the key and cylinder, but now that does not even work. Do you think replacing the ignition switch will fix this problem?

Maybe; I'm not sure without testing it myself?
