It's going to get real expensive if you just keep throwing parts at it. All your test proved is that the starter and solenoid were good and working fine. they are not getting a trigger signal for some reason and the starter circuit has to be troubleshooted with a wiring diagram and a test light to determine where the current is being lost.

thanks i was thinking it was something like that / i did take the old starter in to be cheaked and it was junk and when i took the old one out the ground wire was melted back so the wire was bare . so what i mite just do is run a bush button toggle swish to the solenoid '' Do you think that will be ok ? i just dont want to spend to much money and time on this car its old and not much life left in her anyway

That's just foolish and a good way to start a fire. All you need is someone with the knowledge to trace the circuit and find the real problem.

Agree with HT on this - don't do that.

It may have escaped my notice for 40 years but I don't know of a ground wire to the starter as the whole thing is bolted to engine ground. I stongly suggest you repair that burned wire and make sure it's going to the right terminal.

If "trigger" wire gets no current start by checking that neutral safety switch is working if an automatic and that clutch safety switch works if a standard shift.

Either of those stop the trigger wire but doesn't explain the burned wire you found,

No, I wouldn't go switching wires around.

i did the same thing with the smaller wires they engage the seloniod from the key. they should be a push on type connector. this will cause no damage to circut only fix it

Don't be giving advice like that here. That is not a safe or acceptable way to resolve that issue.
