I had my transmission replaced around 3 months ago and quickly my electrical system went all haywire. I replaced the battery and it kinda fixed the problem but the car was not producing a sweet charge. My battery died eventually and I installed another one and an alternator. It worked fine for 2 weeks and then just five days ago it lost the full charge. It hovers above 10 AMPs I can only run headlights, nothing else or the check gauges and engine light comes on and the battery dies. I need help figuring out what the problem is I love the car, she and I have history and I only paid $197 for her so fixing her up isn't to bad. But after spending $2500 I want her to work, help.

Check your belts that run to the ALT. If they are slipping or are loose the ALT pulley might not be spinning at the right rate, therefore giving you a cruddy charge. My advice is charge your battery, and tighten your belts. See how that goes.

I think the harness which actually connects to my alternator has blown a side to it!!?? I am pretty sure, how would I replace that and what is the part called?

Just a thought: Diode "trio" inside most alternators can blow just one and put out just a partial, inadequate charge. You would see voltage reading normal with nothing on, engine running and drop right off with use of headlight, blower, RWD - high consumption items where it should cover those and maintain the battery charge. What are you voltage findings? Some Chrysler products don't have a voltage regulator inside the alternator but use computer to moderate that - don't know for this one and year, T

What may be happening is a short either in alt itself or the wire to it where post is damaged. Both alt and battery need to be good at the same time and when batteries go dead a few times they can be damaged by just that and being the sore sports they are want to take the alternator with them. It's like playing "ping-pong" with each other. Battery should be charged, tested separately and alternator tested too. Look for where the damaged ( you said 'gone ' ) harness is coming from - anything shorted - if not it's probably shorted in the alternator?? T
