Driving when engine suddenly died, found fuse in panel under hood blown. Fuse is marked (fuel pump). Replaced fuse, blew again as soon as ignition turned on. Checked wiring for any obvious damage. Found none. Replaced fuse again with same result. This model has both an in tank fuel pump and one located midframe. Suspect fuel pump, but am unsure as to which one this fuse is connected. Any advice on this matter appreciated. Thank you. Land.

Unplug them one at a time and see if the fuse blows.

Exactly what I'm in process of doing. Fuse blew with the midframe pump unpluged. Removing rt/rear tire now in order to access connection for in tank pump. Let you know results here shortly. Fuse blew with both pumps unpluged. Just to confirm I diisconnected correct plug, there are two sets of two wires one which goes to upper rt/frt of fuel tank. Other set (one I disconnected) goes to cntr/frt top of tank.

I'm not sure where you are getting the 2 fuel pump idea. I'm only seeing one in the wiring diagram. It's fed with a light blue wire that turn to red at a connector right before the pump

Wound up with both pumps unpluged and still blowing the fuse. I see that there is a relay for each fuel pump, could defective relay cause this fuse to blow? Other than that I guess its time to start chaseing wires.

The next step would be to pull the relay

Pulled relay #2, fuse blew. Pulled relay#1, fuse did not blow.

Try swapping the relay with another one like it from the horn or something unimportant. If swapping it doesn't correct the problem, then you have a short in the wire between the relay and the pump.

Okay. Thank you for your patience sir, so at this point my problem is either this relay or in wiring going to pump correct? Swaping in a different relay cured the problem, fuse did not blow. Used one from heater, question; 30mi into town, will the heater relay get me to town, where I can get the correct relay?

If it works once, it will continue to work.
