92 Honda Accord D4 light Sign In

I own a 92 Honda Accord LX W\auto trans,4cyl motor . Im having a problem with the D4 light coming on when I turn on the ignition it stays on even when I change the gear position. Sometimes it doesnt do it at all .I took it to a trans shop they said the trans is ok ,but they also couldnt find the problem . If I drive it will stay in hi gear even starting out .If I manually shift, it will go thru all the gears .I went to the Honda dealer they checked it out for 4 hours and they told me it was the TCM and the shift selecter both of which i replaced with new ones ,and the problem still exists!!!!!!! the dealer doesnt know what else it could be,can you please help? P.S They checked all the wires coming from the TCM and the shift selecter

Who installed the parts the dealer said were bad? If you did it complicates the responsibility. If the dealer did and the same problem is there then they are just shooting into the air hoping to fix this and that's their problem. Did you have to pay for this misinformation? I hope not!

The dealer installed the parts and I did pay them , {for their time only } the parts were taken back out . I drove the car today and it acted up once the rest of the day it shifted fine . The only time I saw the D4 light go on was when I was starting the car {cranking }.Thanks

There's a clue lurking in what you just said. The cranking mode is also a mode for checking some bulbs. Bet there is a residual back feed of power that confuses the car that is probably at the starter motor and wiring there. Heck - I can guess as well as these other places and this isn't costing you a thing!

Its in great shape , everything works {except for this},I'm going to tell the dealer your diagnosis and hopefuiiy they put a different tech on it this time.
