92 Accord Won't Start-Getting Fire and Fuel Sign In

I have a 1992 Honda Accord with a 2.2 L EFI with 245,000. About 3 weeks ago I got the car running again after replacing the ignition coil under the distributor. The car ran fine while running errands. A friend recommended I bring the car out to replace the baterry terminal ends , so I did. She replaced the cable ends and the positive wire going from the battery to the fuse panel. When she hooked the newly replaced cable ends for the battery, we noticed more than normal-sparks and the negative wire that runs to the firewall next to the battery started melting. Come to find out ( from her friend that stopped by ) she had switched the wires to the wrong posts on the battery. Evidently some thing were shorted in the engines' electrical system. I've replaced the main relay and the ignition coil and it still won't start. It wasn't getting fire until I replaced the main relay and now its at least getting fire but it won't spin over long enough to seem to get it cranked. I was about to bring another battery out and start there and maybe a new starter. Any idea's about where to start looking now. Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Check all the maxi-fuses first but you could have done much more serious damage too.

Thanks for your help. I have checked all of the fuses, both inside and out. I was wondering, when she put the wrong cables back on the battery, could she have shorted the starter and the battery ? The reason I asked is, when I try to start the car now, it will spin for a few seconds and then stop, spin a few seconds and then stop. This cycle continues as long as I'm holding the key in the start position.

She could have fried anything and everything in the car.

Thanks again, the last question I have is, with the engine spinning over and then stopping and then spinning and stopping continually while the key is in the start position, would that lean towards the starter being bad ? Thanks again for all of your help.

Does this have an aftermarket alarm or remote start system? I've never heard or seen of a starter motor acting that way. What you could do is a get a 12 volt test lamp and put it onto the small wire on the solenoid. Then see if the light is blinking at the same time the starter does that cycle thing.
