'91 Accord speedometer problems

I have a 1991 Honda Accord Ex, four door sedan. My speedometer has been giving me issues. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't matter how much I drive it, it stops working when it wants to. When it stops working the trip meter, along with the mileage counter, stops working as well.
What is causing my speedometer to stop working?

Not certain, but I don't think this application uses a speedo cable. Could be a vehicle speed sensor problem. Have the trouble codes pulled, then re post.
