89 Mazda 626~positive current to neg. side of coil Sign In

The problem began when we thought the car ran out of gas. Fill it up....its ran for half the day then started dying while running. Didn't run rough, just idled down and died. Through a series of events, as all of the parts were ancient anyway, we have replaced the fuel pump and relay, coil and distributer. It still won't start. It turns over but just won't do it. I have discovered that there is now a positive current on the negative side of the coil. Any ideas on what can cause that and how to fix it? Yes...everything is wired correctly and as it should be.

Thanks, Robert

That's actually normal. In an open circuit, voltage will flow all the way to the open spot...... This flow chart may help
