1987 suz samurai 120k.

I've had an issue with the ignition system recently. Previously it would successfully start, but it has since last night stopped altogether. I normally sit in the car and turn the key 10 times before it will react, then another 10 times till it turns over like nothing happened and fires up. Today it was dead after work and I tried turning the key several time sand nothing happened. The dash lights failed to come on, and I resorted to jumping it, and that made no difference. Made sure the terminal connections were clean and tight, but still not change. Plz help.

Take good look at battery cables in general. Both ends not just at battery. You have described a total disconnect of battery type issue and bet clock and radio preset zero out. Jumping didn't work suggests the problem is the cables to me maybe not at battery at all. You can check where it falls out with testing or think about now try to replace both as they didn't seem too durable to me when new never mind now. Whole new is fading for cables to getting splice (quality only) ends or having them made up.

A maybe test when totally dead or seems like a dead battery but posts show OK not the clamps is to pull on especially positive cable to starter a little or twist on it may get it going which is proof the problem is cables to me,

My first suspect would be ignition switch, not the key lock portion the elec switch itself, hopefully no remote starter.
