I have been told this could be a ground issue. Can anyone tell me where I start? If needed you can test that with jumper cables. There should be a ground strap that may need cleaning up or is broken. You can buy just a ground strap which is exposed braided cable with eyelets at each end and add one out of the way, T ryoushi Novice Aug 12, 2007, 8:49 PM Post #3 of 4 (3182 views) Re: 86 chevy pickup dash lights Sign In Tom, there is a ground strap from the frame to the back of the block. It is covered with oil from a leaky rear main. However, when I check the block there is solid ground everywhere already. There is a wire that runs from my headlights to the marker lights and when I check those wires for power they barely light up my tester. It seems there is a power issue rather than a ground issue? Frame is on rubber mounts all over the place and doesn't always ground well.
