4-way flashers not working properly

4-way flashers not working properly

When I turn on my 4-way flashers they all work but the passenger side in the dash and on the outside front passenger side. I have a 1990 Chevy Lumina Euro 3.1 L. Do I need to replace a fuse or have a mechanic take off the WHOLE steering column?

A maybe guess: This probably has two flashers - one on the fuse box and they hide one. May be same part # and configuration. I'd try swapping them the see if troubles follow. One flasher for hazards and one for directionals,

Try changing the bulb to see if that makes a difference

Okay where would the one be that they hide? I'm a woman so I don't know too much about all this stuff but I have done other things with cars. LOL

#1 - Being a women can be an advantage mechanically and I know several ASE certified female techs! Women can do better as they tend not to get all mad when something doesn't work right the first try. This shouldn't (never say never) be tool intensive or require too much dexterity.
I'm perfectly capable of misreading your original post. I take it the lights on one side do not work with the hazards requested - right?
I'm not certain but I think a faulty flasher could cause this or as Sidom mentioned a bulb could be the issue. If the bulbs haven't been touched since they worked probably not that. Does this vehicle use the same bulb for directionals as the hazards? I'm not there to know that. Usually they do so if bulbs work for directionals and not for hazards than just because it's possible I'd switch the flashers.
To find the hidden one put them on if they one side still blinks then it should make a clicking sound and you would then know which one.
Owner's manual may say or show which is for directionals or hazards but may not show where one of them is so you go looking or we try to find a location from software here. Typically as I said ONE will be plugged into the interior fuse box and the other above your brake and gas pedal so handy you need to get under there upside down head first! Aren't they special for doing that?
As said - for the effort if they are the same it would be free to try that. If bulbs are messed up or a wrong one put in for some reason that could be it too.
It could be some screwy wiring problem too. Just can't say. I'll come back and edit to put what this car is in the subject line as I forgot already,

OK - just found they are the same part # and look like this (color may be different)

Hazard flasher

The left flasher doesn't light up or blink in the dash nor does it blink or light up on the front passenger side on the outside of the car. But all the other ones flash and work properly.

If you are only having a problem with that one light, then the problem is with either that bulb, bulb socket or the circuit going to it.

With that info forget the flasher(s) for now. This is bulb, socket or wiring by all chances as HT suggested and Sidom suggested before. I've seen flashers do strange things but it's rare to do exactly that,

The circuit? Would that be on the passenger side inside the car where the hazard flasher would be or in the steering column?

The circuit is not a thing. It is the network and all associated components and wiring connected together which starts at the turn signal switch and ends at the ground for the light after passing through the bulb.

I'm watching this thread with a bit of curiosity.
I would say 90% or more posters come here looking a solution to their problem hoping it's something easy and simple to do....
Normally it's not as easy or simple as they had hoped.
For some reason you seem to be trying to make this as hard & complex a problem to fix as possible.....
Curious?????
