Car---

Mitsubishi Eclipse
2002
nonturbo 4 cyl.
90 k miles
RS I think (they sold it as GS)

Just bought this stupid car in November, so I don't have much history with it.

The battery went dead at first-- so I bought a new battery. 2 days later the car won't start again. When I first put the battery on and tested it, it did very quickly through a battery and brake light on when I accelerated. But it went right back off. but no other signs before it didn't start again. When it was boosted the car would run for as long as that boost held and then lights dimmed, and all electrical ceased before the car had to be towed.

So we thought, must be the alternator. We went to AUTOZONE ( I know now the error of my way). It tested ok on their machine, but they said the car would put a heavier load then their machine, so I went ahead and had it changed out and the battery recharged.

At first it seemed fine when it was started. But then soon after the Battery and brake lights came back on within 10 mins. We took it back to autozone, they said it was fine. came back home put it back on the car and there were those lights again. So we drove the car back to have it tested on the car. They said the voltage regulator was bad. And then got a new one.

Also, when this alternator was on the car it was throwing a P1500 code.

Now the new, new one is on the car. When I rev the car, those lights come on again (bat and brake), but no code so far.

What should I do? Curse autozone for bad alternators or look to a computer problem?

Oh and by the way it has a new belt and the tension is not loose. Could be too tight... not sure on that one.

Thanks
