Hello, Looking for a little brain help on a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE Driver Side Electric Window Trouble. It's my wife's car and she said that the window does not always operate properly. I did a little trouble shooting and determined that when the window is operated frequently (5-6 times) it just stops completely. Have to wait for about 3-4 minutes and then it will work normal............ until. It seems that there may be a "Thermal Overload" sensor that is weak and shuts down the operator. My one question is: where would the Thermal Overload be located?? In the Motor or in some other location. As a alternative question would it be best just to replace just the motor or the entire mechanism?? Then again, is there something else that needs to be considered?? Thanks for any hints or thoughts!! Les

There is no thermal overload device. The motor is just tired and you need a new motor and regulator assembly. There is a current draw limit on the switch for the auto up/down feature but that won't be your problem because it can be bypassed by not fully engaging the switch. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Trust me, you have a bad motor. It's a common symptom. Sometimes slapping the inside door panel with an open hand while holding the switch on will trigger it to move. It's going to stop permanently soon. The only time window motors make noise is when the regulator gears are stripped. The switch has 2 positions. The first step is manual operation and the second step is auto up/down. Even if the current draw shuts down the auto up, it will still work manually. Replace the motor with regulator and while doing that spray some silicone spray into the felt window channels so they don't bind.

You might be able to find a motor without a regulator but don't go that route. They wear out too.

Hi Hammer, This is a bit of a frustrating update!! I ordered and received the motor and assembly for the Camry. However, it was the wrong unit. Sadly I didn't know until I removed the old and installed the new and then noticed that the power connector was a 6 Pin and the original was a 10 pin!! BTW they do not FIT each other!! I then had to remove the new, re-install the old and ship back the new, and got a full refund along with whoops "sorry"!!! I have found out that there is a loss of technological brain junk that can't list items correctly for the person needing the right part!! The car is a 2007 Toyota Camry 4 Door XLE w/ 6 Cylinder Engine. What I found out is the XLE has a 10 Pin Connector and that seems to be a odd ball of the Toyota Parts World. The other models, SE, LE etc. use a 6 Pin Connector. I ended up going to the local Toyota Dealer Part Dept. and after the 40 year employed parts guy, finally found the right one said it is on BackOrder........................ And the cost is off the charts!! So now that I have "vented" a bit, I think since it is not a fully broken part, I will just put the whole project on the back burner!! BTW I can now add "Toyota Mechanic" to my Resume'. :-) Thanks for reading and maybe the typing will help some other Toyota Owner to be better educated! Have a good day. Les

Ask the dealer for the part number and Google that.

I have done that!! However none of the sites reference the Pin Connector as being 10 pin. So without "eyes on" it is a guess!! $300 to $450 for the little motor????????????? Again----- Back Burner!!! Les
