2007 Expedition Power Window Failure Sign In

Mad
I have a 2007 Ford Expedition & the drivers side power window was making a bad squialing noise as well as the passenger side when you put them up or down, Then the driver side finally quite working all together, I had my fiance put WD 40 on the tracks to stop the sqeaking and hope fully solve the inop problem thinking that the felt was swealing and binding the window but it is still not working, Any thoughts on the problem or any known problems with the switch or motor that Fords not talking about?? The vehicle is already out of Warranty & I don’t plan on bringing it to the dealer, I will figure it out when I get home from over seas just trying to get info on this and see if it’s a recall issue or an on going Ford problem
Any info would be appreciated and Thanks in advance…Smile

Well it sounds like you have a bad motor or regulator...... Yea I know...I'm stating the obvious here.

But the problem possibly could've been avoided.....If the window was in fact binding in the guides, then you were overworking the motor which would lead to an early failure.

I can't hear the noise so I'm just guessing but if it is a binding problem then the right side is following right behind on it's way to a failure. The tracks need to be free moving, any kind of extra resistance puts too big of a load on the motor, so you'll either get motor failure or a broken regulator

First let me Thank You for such a rapid response to my question, I hope it’s not the motor but you may be right, the only way we’ll know for sure is to get in there and do some looking & testing! The squialing noise I heard over the phone when I was talking to my fiance was not as loud as you might think but still loud enough for me to hear it, but like you stated it does put a lot of stress on the motor and regulator. When I get home I’ll check it out and see if it has power going to it as well as looking at the regulator .
Do you know if this vehicle has the motor pop rivited in or not like on some of the vehicles I’ve worked on?

I haven't done any 07 yet but knowing Ford & how they love their rivets I wouldn't be surprised Wink. If you don't have the correct size rivets or tool for them, I've seen nut & bolts used in there place with good success........

I buy a lot of Mac tools off the truck which by the way is less then a mile away from me (thats a bad thing, i spend to much money on it) so if it's riveted in i'll just buy the tool and some rivets and do it the correct way. But again Thank you for taking the time to respond and all your information.
