2006 chevy 1500 work truck 2 door cab Sign In

Hey all I have a 2006 Chevy silverado work truck 2 door cab.. It has a tow package on it.. I know the hook up for it is above the spare tire.. I was wondering if there is a way I can just tap in the wiring for just a 4 prong plug I only have one trailer and I dont see me needing anything more..I went to Lowes and bought the plug I need only to find I may have to buy the tap in kit which I dont want to do.. Can you please advise on this please? I was really hoping to splice into the wires I need to use color by color and be done.. Kind of confused now.. Thanks..

You really should use the factory hook up because it is an entirely separate circuit, fused independently of the other lights. Your going to have flasher and fuse problems overloading the base circuit.

I would think you can just buy a plug in adapter for the factory plug at U-haul.

That's not big deal at all. Just hang a bracket and plug it in.

Yeah I got to find one for a 4 prong and maybe a 7 prong.. I really dont want to install that and then have to by a plug in adapter for it... But yes very easy looking and I will do it myself.. Maybe you know a place online where I can get the correct plug in for this?

I'd check to see what U-haul has.

That one doesn't come with a wire lead so make sure your truck has enough wiring to reach it.
