I can not get my 2005 town and country to start. it has a 3.3 v 6. I have had the starter checked and it is good have had the battery checked also good. All the interior dash lights come on when the key is in the run postion but when I turn it to the start postion nothing happens. I have checked all the relays and have bybased the key with a wire to the battery. it turns over when the starter has power but will not start.

not sure. there is a small round red lighton the right side of the instrument panel that comes on for a few seconds when the key is in the run position but it goes out after a few seconds I tried to look in the owners manual to see what the light was but there is nothing on it in there

Would the ignition switch keep it from starting when I bypass the key?

No, don't assume it's a bad ignition switch. There are dozens of possible causes and it requires some testing before condemning anything. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Like HT said dont condemn it. You need to test it and see if it is faulty. I dont have access to the info for it. And no just because you put power to the starter does not mean your car will run all you did was made sure your starter works and engine isnt locked up you didnt start it because you didnt have any spark or fuel being triggered. You have to test the circuit by following a wiring diagram. It's not as simple as it sounds because it's controlled by the Integrated Power Module.

There isn't any aftermarket alarms installed on this van is there? If you have an led style test light, there is a few simple things you could check before shipping it.... You said you tested the relays.....how did you test those?

I tested the relays by moving them around from other relays. No there is no aftermarket alarms. My wife came home from work with the van working fine to not starting in the morning.

Ok...On something like this it's always best to test the battery, they can go with no warning and still have enough power to run the lights but not start the engine... I didn't see it anywhere but I'm assuming you have put a charger on it or a least tried to jump it..... Is there any security lights flashing? On this you can pull the codes by cycling the key from the off to on position 3 times (don't go to crank & you have to time it right) and they will show in the odometer. After that you can pull the starter relay and check the terminals with an test light for power & ground. A dual led power/ground one would help. If you look at the diagram HT posted, you will see the relay has 4 numbers. #30 & 86 should have power on them, 87 will have a constant ground. #85 will have ground when turned to the start position. If 86 doesn't have any power with the key on, turn it to the crank position to see if it has power.... One of those legs is missing either power or ground, if it's 85 or 86 then you will need a scan tool to go any farther. If it's 30 or 87, then you should be able to trace it down with a voltmeter..... If you jump 30 to 87, that should get the starter to crank over.... Also move the gear selector from park to neutral & try to start & the back to park Edit... I just noticed your 1st post where you jumped the starter & it cranked.....so the battery shouldn't be an issue...

Yeah the battery is good even had that check. I have a friend coming over with testers and computer so hopefully with your post and the diagram we will be able to figure it out. I will post why I find.
