2005 Maxima - Trouble Starting Vehicle Sign In

I have a 2005 Nissan Maxima. I went to start my car today and can't get it to start. The battery appears to be fine. The lights come on, the radio works, etc. But when I turn the key, I just hear a very rapid clicking sound. When I turn the key back to OFF, I can hear a softer and shorter clicking sound from the dash area. Along with this 2nd sound, the interior lights blink about 10-11 times.

Any clues?

Thanks,

Sounds like a dead battery. Have it charged and tested.

Thx......so yeah, the battery is good. I'm not that great at all with cars, but what characterists would having a bad starter, alternator, or a faulty security system show? I would have to think it's one of these three suspects.

How do you know this battery is good? This smacks of a bad battery or connections so far. Just because a couple lights work means little, they have to be charged and load tested,

Did you take it out and have it charged and tested or not?

Re: 2005 Maxima - Trouble Starting Vehicle Sign In

Thx for the help.

So here's the story. I took the battery to a friend's house who has an old tester. It was a Walmart MAXX battery and was only 18 months old. He said the battery tested OK. So I came home and kept thinking about it. That's when I mentioned above that it was OK.

But after reading your later comments, it sounded like it really was the battery. I took it to Walmart and their testing equipment showed it being bad. They replaced it for free and I was on my way. They claimed that there has been a rash of bad batteries from mid-2010.

Thx for the help....it's greatly appreciated.
