2004 Ford Pickup lights stay on Sign In

I have a 2004 F150 Heritage with the V-6, 80,000 miles but in great shape. I towed a trailer and the headlights now will not turn off. I have to unhook the battery. I did this and they worked fine, I unplugged trailer lights and the switch functioned properly after reinstalling the negative lead to the battery. I now have done this 3 times. The lights seem to work for a time and then this morning the running and dash lights quit but I had head lights and brake lights, I unhooked the battery and the headlight switch works again. This is weird. I thought it was a trailer problem because the first two times I was dragging a trailer, this morning it was just the truck.
Thanks

I assume it has Daytime Running lights. There is a DRL relay that could be staying energized.

This model does not have daytime running lights.

Then you'll have to test the Headlamp switch and Multifunction switch.

I didn't say "change" them. I said "check" them.

Problem solved there were three burned fuses under the hood, I guess the trailer wires on the one I borrowed were not working properly. Beggars can't be choosers!

And that caused your lights to NOT turn off?

Boy, I find that one hard to believe.

Well I don't know for how long but it appears to be working now and so are the running and dash lights. No cab fuses were burned just the three under the hood. Weird? I agree I usually can figure stuff out but this one is tough hopefuly was tough

It's just pretty hard to swallow that removing a power supply will make something not shut off. Doesn't seem to add up unless the voltage was somehow feeding back into another circuit. Doesn't make sense but I guess time will tell.

It may be a coincidence that your lights turned off. These trucks are known for DRL modules going bad. If they do come back on try unplugging the module and see if the lights go out.
