My 2004 Chevy Blazer ZR2 with 92,000 miles and a 4.3 liter vortec engine has had a problem with the cd player working on and off. It looks like an electrical short. I hit a bump and the stereo lights flashed on and off, the clock reset and the cd player worked for a week straight but then went out again. The player will try to play it for about 20 seconds then spit the cd out and say "check cd". It may work for a day and then go out, on and off. The radio itself has not gone out, only the cd player. If this is an electrical short does this mean there are two separate electrical connections for the radio and cd? How can I find out if it is a short? I dont want to buy a new player that will short out also. Thank you. dP

The unit doesn't have seperate power sources or grounds for the radio & cd. If one of them is malfunctioning and the other not then the problem is internal............
