I have a 02 dodge stratus that runs fine when its cold but when it gets hot the rpms jump and then it starts stuttering like it is running out of gas. after a few seconds it will start back up. we have changed out the ignition coil and check air hoses. cant figure it out

This one is going to be hard to figure out unless you can catch it while is screwing up and your monitoring the right systems at the right time. One important factor is that you determined it happens when the engine gets hot, so it could be something electronic messing up such as a position sensor or any other electrical items that are important to the running of the engine. If it was a no start, it would be easier to figure out because you have time to catch the problem. Check engine light popping on? Any trouble codes being stored? If so, write down the numbers. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

To second what DS suggested- the Ck Eng Lite (CEL) - confirm it comes on at every start @2seconds then goes out ALSO check for and post all codes. (sorry to edit but it was "DS" not me that had that first reply so corrected it. DS = Discretesignals - we just do that. "Tom" is short enough, no puns please)
