2002 chev suburban rear lights blink fast Sign In

I first noticed when the turn signals were turned on the lights started blinking very fast. I assumed the brake lights or one of the turn bulbs was out. Then I noticed when the brake is applied the turn signal indicators in the dashboard glow. While troubleshooting the problem you can see that when a trun signal light is on all of the brake lights and the trun signal lights blink rapidly, except the rear turn signal that is acitvated it won't blink at all. The turn signals on the front of the truck alternate while flashing between the front side turn lights and the front turn lights. I had a bulb that was out in the front passenger turn light, which I have replaced. I have also checked all of the fuses that have anyting to do with exterior lighting. I even tried replacing the flasher relay and the problem still persists. The problem does occasionally go away but now it seems here to stay until I fix it. The hazards lightsalso flash just as rapidly as the turn signals and when you apply the brake it makes the hazards or the turn signals stop blinking and the turn signal indicator lights glow in the dash. You can also hear a click inside the dash or maybe around the mulit switch when the brake is depressed and the dash indicators glow. Does my mulit switch need to be replaced or do you think there is something else going on like a ground issue? I'm not very good with electrical stuff so I'm getting stumped at this point.

I would test all the grounds at each light carefully. Find the ground wire and try jumping it to a new ground to see if anything changes.

Okay i've checked all of the wires at the lights and they seem good. The daytime running lights did have some discoloration that could have been from corrosion so i replaced those. I noticed the two side marker turn lights on the front have some slight blackening on the bulb so I am going to replace those as well. However I have realized that the problem only happens when the headlights become active. This suburban has the daytime running lights and the automatic headlights with the sensor so whether you turn the lights on manually or you put it into gear and the lights turn themselves on that is when the issue occurs. When it is sitting in my driveway and I am working on it without the headlights on there does not seemto be any problem. Does that change what I should be looking for?

Looking at wires is not testing anything.
