2002 Avalanche Sign In

Over the last couple of months my 2002 Chevy Avalanche has just gone dead while driving. Car stalls, all gauges power steering and brakes all die. The fix has been to replace a 20 fuse then all is fixed. It has now happened twice in the last 2 weeks and one other time about 6 months ago. My mechanic says it might be the fuel pump causing the problem but I am reluctant to have him fix it due to the high cost of such a fix.

Has anyone else had this problem or another similar that they resolved and help me shed some light on the subject.

Re: 2002 Avalanche Sign In

Which fuse is blowing? We need to know rthe circuit it protects. If it is the fuel pump circuit, then the pump could indeed be faulty. Give us location number of the cavity and if it is under hood or under the dash.

The fuse is a 20a fuse labeled ECM B and described in the owners manual as VCM/PCM. It is located under the hood. I hope this helps, thanks for your help.

That fuse also powers the fuel pump relay. You may try replacing that first to see if maybe the relay is at fault. If it still does it, the fuel pump is a good possibility. It is also, believe it or not, the cheaper of the 3 to repair. Good luck and keep us informed.

Thank you for your help in this matter. I will try your suggestion before replacing the entire fuel pump.
