2001 dodge durango headlights wont turn off automatically

2001 dodge durango headlights will not turn off automatically. I believe they should after aprox. 8 minutes. They do start to flicker after some time. Also cannot turn off headlights without key "on" in ignition.

Thats weird? Why would it usually take 8 mins for headlights to turn off? I am not really familiar with the Derango. But on other vehicles i have worked on, they have a timed Head light relay, which is usually tapped into ignition sense. Which cuts the lights off when door contacts are separated...this one is kinda weird. Sorry i cant help more.
