2000 Ford Windstar
3.8L
(Mother-in-Law's Van)

The front drivers power seat will move in every direction but back. It is stuck in the most forward position. I've unplugged the motor that moves the seat forward and back, then tested the plug for power when the switch is in the forward and back position. The motor is getting power. Now, I heard that a relay could cause the seat to not move. Is this correct? Is it just the motor since I'm getting power in both directions.

By the way, it seems like I can not purchase the motor or even the relay from my local auto parts store.

Thank you for any information.

Bet it's one motor doing different functions. I don't know exactly how this one does it but some used like speedometer cables to do the assorted changes and one may have broken. Last one had a towel all caught up in the mechanisms!

when you can't get a part at local parts store, its usually because its a dealership only part. Ford has a lot of these. Only a dealer can get you one. With power at the motor when the switch is on, the motor can be considered the culprit. I'd check some salvage yards for an affordable alternative if Ford wants too much for this part.
