Hello all. Have an alligator of a problem (at least I think so) with my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Seems my hazard blinkers work fine, but my left turn signal stopped working after giving me problems of cutting out intermittently for the last year or so. Dealer said the "multi switch" was bad and the repairs were gonna run me about $285 dollars. YIKES! Can anyone offer some advice on how to take care of this myself? Many thanks in advance.

If you mean, a way to by pass the multi-switch; likely not without doing some extensive rewiring. I’m going to suggest biting the bullet on this and just have them replace the unit. Mostly due to the airbag system, that needs to be disabled. By the time you purchase the switch, the necessary tools and gain the knowledge of how not to light off the airbag you’ll be money ahead having someone do I for you. Some models don’t require the removal the steering wheel to get to the switch (I don’t have my service manuals to confirm this) but the airbag system should always be disarmed while working on or around the column. Just disconnecting the battery is not always enough to ensure it will not go off; even the slightest amount of static electricity from you sliding you butt across the seat could be enough to ignite the bag.
